Street Tuner Racing Season Begins – The Roar 2017

MINI JCW Street Tuner - The Roar

As usual, the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge (CTSC) is taking advantage of Florida’s mild weather in Daytona. The Roar Before The 24 is the only sanctioned opportunity for IMSA teams to get on track before the season. In CTSC racing this brings Grand Sport and Street Tuner cars to Daytona International Speedway just weeks before their first event at the same track.

Coming off of winter break, these sessions are an important opportunity for teams to shake down both cars and drivers. This year the MINI JCW Team, the only team running MINIs in the series registered two entries the #73 and #52 for the event. Three drivers have been confirmed for these practice days; Derek Jones, Mat Pombo, and team newcomer Mike LaMarra.

Day One Street Tuner Results

NOTE: Early results at The Roar are generally not a sign of what’s to come. Cars are being put through their paces after off-season servicing, and drivers are learning handling and track conditions. It’s also important to note that only 10 Street Tuner cars registered to take part at this year’s Roar Test. Many teams choose to skip these Daytona test days and head to other tracks privately where they can get more practice time.
