MINI All4 Results – Morocco
On the final podium, Russians Vladimir Vasilyev and Konstantin Zhilstsov brought their G-Energy MINI All4 home in third-place while successfully planning and testing for the Dakar Rally coming in January 2017. “We are happy,” said Vasilyev. “The MINI ALL4 Racing ran very well. We had no problems whatsoever – neither technical nor when it came to driving and navigating. For us, it was about testing our car and the suspension in particular.”
In fourth place for the rally, X-Raid team’s Argentine Orlando Terranova, and Portuguese Paulo Fiúza are well prepared for Dakar, especially with Fiúza’s home knowledge of the event. Kuba Przygonski (Poland) and Tom Coulsoul (Belgium) drove the ORLEN Team MINI to fifth place. Rounding out the 4 MINI All4 entries able to finish were Boris Garafulic (CHL) and co-driver Filipe Palmeiro (POR) in ninth place.
Two MINI All4 teams did not complete the event. Yazeed Al Rajhi and co-driver Timo Gottschalk along with Mikko Hirvonen and Michel Périn we unable to finish due to mechanical and health issues.
One final event for the 2016 FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies season remains. Teams head to Portugal next for the Baja Portalegre 500. That event in late Ocotober will serve as the final testing session for teams entering the Dakar Rally in January.
