Quietly announced in an email, with much less fanfare than we’ve become accustomed to in the MINI community, a new Countryman is scheduled to hit dealerships as soon as this fall, and we are pretty speechless about it.
Introducing the MINI Cooper Countryman…
The Highlands Edition is a new ‘Special Edition” Countryman on its way to dealerships soon. Available in four existing Countryman colors; Cosmic Blue, Jungle Green, Midnight Grey, and Absolute Black, the Highlands Edition will feature a Crystal Silver roof and mirror caps, a pre-installed short antenna, and a roof rack.
This edition will be available the Cooper S designation (with or without All4) and buyers may opt for with either the Manual (standard) transmission, or an Automatic. Badging for the Highlands Edition includes a side stripe on the lower door panels.
As with most Special Edition vehicles in the MINI lineup, this one will not include any performance modifications. Considering the much-anticipated Countryman redesign that is expected for the next model year, this is a very late announcement for the first generation of MINI’s hit selling four door variant, and probably a little disappointing for those that were hoping to see the newest design announcement this fall.
